Change Ups

PURPOSE: Frequent change of positioning provides proprioceptive and vestibular input. Change-Ups help to refocus attention on classroom tasks by maintaining “physical and attending readiness”. Change-Ups can be adapted for use ANYWHERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Use any of the following suggestions. A combination of at least 3 is recommended.

1.Raise arms in air, stretch for the ceiling.

2.Clap thighs on knees with palms, 5 times

3.Bicycle-ride motion with arms out in front, 8 revolutions (4 each arm)

4.Pound feet on floor, 5 times (sitting or standing)

5.Heavy stomps march (while sitting), alternating feet, 8 times.

6.Standup/sit down, 3 times.

7.Stand up, turn all the way around, one direction, then the other.

8.Stand up, do 3 quick jumps.

9.Hands folded on top of head, press down into head, 5 times.

10.Fist press into palm of other hand, 5 each side.

11.Feet wave, in sitting, point toes down hard, pull toes up hard, 5 times.

12.Give a hard self hug, count to 3.

Many activities are possible. Be creative!!!!
